Globalization has resulted with high concentration of business and information. One of the main challenges of this process in the banking sector in general is merging of the banks. This leads to the situation where lots of employees are faced with unsecured future due to the out-sourcing and off-shoring.

Trade union movement is faced with great challenges when comes to the globalization. This process in BIH has already now created very difficult working atmosphere for trade union structures in finance sector. Lack of the efficient social dialogue on the basic level but also non existence of the Employer's Association on the country or even entity level in the finance sector makes trade union activities in representing and promoting worker's rights very delicate task.

Conference on Globalization impact on trade union movement in BIH therefore was organized in order to help the trade unionists in the country to find the right approach to this issue.

Conference gathered 35 people from Finance Trade Union of RS and Finance Trade Union of BIH.The Executive Secretary and the head of Education Department of the Banking Association of bIH were also present on the conference having a lecture on the work of the association and also on its views on globalization of the banks in BIH.

This Association has not put in any of its documents the importance or even the possibility for cooperation with trade union representaives. This conference has therefore been very important as a first step towards this. The issue of collective bargaining will on the promise of the Executive Secretary been put on the Agenda of the next meeting of the Banking Association of BIH. In the situation as it is in BIH this is major achievement so far.

The participants from TU movement of BIH were very grateful for the contribution of Finansforbundet's General Secretary Mr.Magnus Gissler talking on the basic aspects of the globalization in his country but also on off-shoring and out-sourcing as one of the main globalization "product" world wide. The approach of Uni Finance to this issue was also been discussed trough the lecture of Magnus Gissler but also trough very fruitful discussion.

Unfortunately although participants were expecting somebody from TU movement from Austria as a domicile country for most of the existing banks in BIH to come and address to the conference this was not possible due to the sick leave of the representatives of GPA Austria who was nominated.

The Conference was based on group discussions and group work approach to the problems, challenges but also to the strategy and joint plan of action has been produced during the group work session. The conclusion of the Conference together with the Action Plan is attached to this report.

The conference as usually has been the good opportunity for participants to exchange their experience and to gather and meet after one year period.

All participants expressed their gratitude to the support of Finansforbundet, Sweden who made this conference and similar activities possible and also to the staff of the FIET/UNI Project office Sarajevo for the good organization and practical engagement in the implementation of the conference.
